new spouse visa

Post by filly23 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 2:15 pm

Hi,

i'm looking to bring my husband to the UK on a spouse visa but i'm a little confused in which visa application he needs to fill in. I know everything is done online now.The spouse visa application doesn't seem to exist no more, has it been replaced with 'Family of settled person visa'? if so how come this new visa form doesn't ask questions like when you met etc? I'm a little confused and i'm not sure if this is the right form he should be filling in and I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice.

Thank you

You should be applying on form VAF4a. Before submitting the application, ensure you meet the financial condition of a minimum annual earnings of £18,600 (or substantial savings) and your spouse has passed the pre-entry A1 English test (if applicable to their nationality).

Thank you for your help casa.I do meet all the other requirements and my husband will be sitting the English A1 exam very soon.

I have noticed that the new form doesn't seem to ask questions on when our relationship started etc. Will this be asked during the interview? Also on the form it asks 'what is the person's relationship to you'?their isn't a option for
husband,so is it best to put down 'Other relative'

There isn't always an interview. There's a flaw in the application (not unusual for the Home Office). I believe most people give 'other relative' and explain husband/wife in the additional information. Unfortunately I can't access the online version as I'd have to register.

Thank you so much again casa for your helpful.Just one quick question do I have to have all of the pages on my passport certified? I was thinking of having it certified here in the UK before I leave to see my husband is that a good idea?

Yes you do. Having it legally certified here is a good idea as it will need to be done. Also bear in mind that any official documents that aren't being submitted as the original should also be certified.

I read somewhere on the gov website that my husband would have to fill out and print a copy of Appendix 2 of VAF4a financial requirements form and include this form with his supporting documents when he attends the visa centre.I just would like to know if he needs to include this?
