EEA family member travelling within EU

Hi, sorry if my query is in the wrong place but thanks in advance for help. I live in Scotland with my wife and son, my son and I are british citizens but my wife is Sri Lankan. Last year she was granted a 5 year EEA family member residence visa. My question is regards travelling outwith the UK in the EU. My impression was that she was able to travel in the EU without a further visa as long as she travels with myself. Is this correct? We want to travel to Portugal in a few weeks.

You need to practising your treaty rights - eg working, study etc. Tourism doesn't count.
