18600 Queries

Post by sauzee2001 » Fri May 22, 2015 2:08 pm

My wife is American and is hoping to move to the UK to become a GP. I have a couple of queries about the rules and terms of the 18600 law with regards to our application.

We are currently playing the 6 month job waiting game!

-I was made redundant from my previous job after only a couple of months, in April. Thankfully I found a new job straight away and have been in continued employment for 3 months in total. Does the fact I have moved to another job reset the clock to 6 months or does it all count towards the total?

-If this is included I am actually well ahead of the 6 month target of £9300 (roughly 2000 short after 3 months) If I get there with a month or two to spare, can we proceed with the application early or do I need to wait till I am with the company for 6 months?

You can apply under Category B if you have earned the equivalent of £18,600 during the 12 months prior to submitting the application.
You haven't posted a full 12 months history.

See this example from the Immigration Rules:
The financial requirement is met under Category B because the applicant’s partner is
currently in a job paying at least £18,600 a year and has earned more than £18,600 from
employment in the last 12 months.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
