Hello,
My fiance and I are looking into applying for a fiance visa.
I have a few questions I was hoping people could help me with.
I understand that registry offices won't register your marriage until both parties are present and I think I read that they will provide a letter or email saying that you enquired but that they can't register the wedding yet?
When my fiance gets to the UK, we will be staying with my parents until after the wedding.
However, on the government website it says that he needs some documents that prove his address in the UK.
For myself, I can obviously provide bank statements or something like that.
But what can my fiance provide? He will have just arrived in the UK so obviously won't have a UK bank account or any utilities to his name yet.
Secondly, we would like to get married about 4 months into the 6 month fiance visa. As we'd like some time to finish preparing everything once he arrives.
If you state in your application when you want to arrive in the UK and when you want to get married, do they take this into account when sending you the visa with the dates on?
I don't know if I'm explaining this very well but as you can apply for the visa 3 months in advance:
- Say we applied in September 2016 with the intention of him entering the UK in November 2016 and getting married in February 2017.
Would the visa be valid for 6 months from September or 6 months from November?
Also, we met and live together in China and have been together for nearly 2 years.
I will be heading back to the UK soon as I cannot earn the £18600 in China so I have found a job in the UK with a suitable salary.
During the 6 months I need to get the financial requirement sorted; my fiance would like to visit me on a tourist visa.
Do you think we would have problems with the tourist visa?
He is an Indonesian expat living in China and I just worry about them believing he will return to China when we are engaged and planning our wedding.
Obviously we are apart so that we can go through the fiance visa process legitimately and have no interest in him overstaying on a tourist visa as it would totally jeopardise our future in the UK together.
I am just worried about the ECO thinking that he might not leave because we are engaged.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you (:
