I have a query with anyone who had the same type of problem. I was not looking really closely at my divorce certificate. I got married in the Philippines and got divorced in the UK after I became a naturalised British citizen. When it arrived, I hid the thing away as it was quite a bad memory for me. My husband left me and is now living in UAE. That certificate was socked away in the back of a drawer and I never really looked at it. I should have looked closer as there was an error on my name.
All my id's (British passport, birth and previous marriage certificate) says this
"MA (NAME) (MIDDLE NAME) (SURNAME)"
My divorce certificate says this:
"MARIA (NAME) (MIDDLE NAME) (SURNAME)"
All the details are correct except that "Ma to Maria" discrepancy. Respondent, place and Date of marriage are all correct in the decree absolute.
Now, a couple of years later, I got remarried. I got married in Las Vegas and when we applied for license, they did not bother to look at it and I thought there was no problem with it. My new husband and I applied for a UK spouse visa last month on priority. Again, I did not look too closely on the divorce absolute. I know I am an absolute twit.
My fear is now a spouse visa refusal. I have read in other forums how other people get refused because divorce certificate error. Legally as I have just consulted a solicitor my divorce is still valid, apparently it just needs amending under a "slip rule." I dont know though if home office would look too kindly on this matter. This is making me too sad.
Did anyone else have an approval with this kind of problem?
