Do you need a new passport before Spouse Visa application

Post by sambobmac » Thu Jan 02, 2020 12:22 am

Hey;

I got married on Monday after my wife (still feels weird saying that) originally moved here on the 6 month fiancé visa. We’re now preparing to submit to change this visa to the spouse one, but wanted to check the requirements on surname,

She has taken my surname now, but do we need to get her a new passport before we can apply for the new visa? Or can we get the visa in her maiden name, and then change passport at a later date?

The passport should reflect the name she wishes to use.
