Hi everyone,
I am wondering if anyone can help me with the following situation.
I am Italian, I have been living in the UK for the last 10 years, I am working full time. On 22 of March 2008 I got married in the UK (civil ceremony), my wife is Australian.
My wife is a teacher (currently working), four years ago she came to the UK with a 2 years working visa. After that the school where she works sponsored her for two years.
Because her Visa was going to expire the 14 of April 2008 (her Visa is now expired) we decided to apply for a EEA spouse visa, the school where she works, was ready to sponsor her again but we thought that the EEA spouse Visa was a better option because it would have been valid for a longer period (I think 5 years).
So on the 25 of March 2008 we sent the application for the EEA spouse Visa hoping that it would not take longer than six months, this is because on the 19th of October we are getting married in Italy (Religious ceremony).
Three weeks ago we called to find out at what point is our application and they said that is waiting for consideration.
We sent a letter for "Special consideration" and also requested my wife passport back because we needed for some documents for the Italian wedding.
We received the passport after 14 days and at the moment it is still in our hands.
Now my question is.... can she travel to Italy for the wedding? we have already everything planned, people coming from all over the world and we have already paid for everything so there is no way to postpone the wedding.
Is there anything I can do to speed up the process, or anyone that I can talk to find out more information about my wife being able to leave the UK.
At the moment the most important thing is that she can leave the UK and travel to Italy, if then they will not allow her back to the UK we will sort it out later...but the main priority is for her to get to Italy.
Thank you for your help.
