Delay in passport delivery

Post by cpduk » Sun Feb 14, 2021 7:18 pm

Dear members, I have applied for FLR FP first and then varied to FLR M. My FLRM was successful and I received BRP. But it is more than 2 months that I haven’t received my passport after writing more than 5 emails to caseworker as well as RODRequestsECT@homeoffice.gov.uk and complaints@homeoffice.gov.uk. I also tried the online document return form which says I have to withdraw current application that does not suit with my situation. I need to visit my back home for a family urgency.
I am asking if there any other way to seek my passport in urgent basis? Or can I travel with emergency travel permit while passport is still with UKVI? Please suggest me.

Emergency travel documents will allow you to return home - however you will need your home nation to issue a full passport to return to the UK.

The lack of return of your passport suggests something has gone wrong. Valuable documents such as passports have a protocol that should track, store and return these documents to their owner. If that has not happened and you have not had a reply to your numerous requests there is a high likelihood that your passport is lost or misplaced.

I would suggest you approach your MP as a matter of urgency to escalate the matter.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Is there any adverse affect if I go to my backhome with travel permit now and come back with new or current passport if UKVI give it back? I am asking because I got to know MP's query takes approx 1 month to get reply due to lockdown.
Please advice me.

Depends how desperate you are to quickly travel?

Each nation has its own rules / timescale for emergency travel documents. Some are in a position to quickly replace a full passport. Talk to your Embassy / High Commision to find out the process and timescales.

Given the general reduction in response and turn around times due to COVID there will be no guarantees, that will likely be the case in your home country too.

I would not depend or factor in your passport being returned by UKVI as part of your returning to UK plans, if you leave on an emergency travel document. There is no more likelihood the passport will be traced / found / returned even given more time.
