Family Parent Visa Application

Post by Dubai_Expat » Sun Mar 21, 2021 8:33 am

Hi,

It is of some disappointment that i am writing and asking for advice. I was in a relationship with the father of my daughter (Both are British Citizens). But the relationship has ended.

My situation is not straight forward. I am a Filipino and my daughter is a British citizen and we both live in Dubai. Due to the relationship breakdown, i need to move away from my ex-partner as he has stated that when the Residence visa is up for renewal he will not renew for either myself or my daughter. Due to his work he is happy for me to be the one to take full parental responsibility.

I am unable to take my daughter to my home country as she does not have a passport and does not speak the native language. She has been educated in a British School in Dubai, and has been brought up around British friends etc for the past 7 years.

I have been reading the Parent route so i an bring up my daughter in the UK, but the guidance is all around currently living in the UK and nothing about a returning overseas British citizen. I am looking to apply as soon as possible as i would like to bring her to the UK before the new school year starts in September 2021.

There are also no hard line financial requirements to meet. it does not say a specific amount of savings, but just should demonstrate adequate income to support with no support from public funds. I have savings and income from overseas property. My savings are around 45,000 GBP and income of around 900 GBP per month. The Child support is still being negotiated.

Thank you

The Other parent will not be in the UK, he will still be working offshore in Dubai

Unfortunately, you are right.

E-ECPT.2.1. and E-LTRPT.2.2. The child of the applicant must be-
prevents you from applying for entry clearance or leave to remain as a parent respectively.

Moreover, when applying for leave to remain, you also have to satisfy the Immigration status requirements.

Is there a way for your child to be living in the UK first, with you still holding sole responsibility?

Or for you to enter the UK with child, other than as a visitor, etc?

Hi, Thank you for the detailed reply.

I will have to speak to my ex-partner. But i am not keen on my daughter living in the other members of his family.
