Biometric card

So, I've recently applied for my UKVICAS, I've given my biometrics and everything else, here is where the problem comes, my Biometric card Expires on the 14th of April, and I was wondering do I still have to renew it even after I've applied for my UKVICAS? I was still a child so I was given a 5 year time spand on my Biometric card, sins I'm 18 now I've applied for the UKVICAS and trying to figure out if I still need to apply for another Biometric Card.
