Seeking Advice on Exemption from A1 for My Wife's Visa

Post by Gamal_Maflahi » Sat Sep 28, 2024 9:15 pm

I hope you're all well. I am writing to seek advice regarding my wife’s UK visa application " She is living in YEMEN", specifically concerning the A1 English language requirement.

Due to my current circumstances, I wonder if there is a possibility of her being exempt from this requirement. I am a British citizen residing in the UK and undergoing cancer treatment, which makes it difficult both financially and logistically to send my wife to a country such as Egypt to take the required English test since UK centres in Yemen are closed. Additionally, I am in need of my family's emotional and mental support, as our two children already hold British passports.

I receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP), which exempts me from the financial income requirement, and I hope to understand whether there are any similar exemptions or flexibility regarding the English language requirement under these circumstances.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice you can offer regarding this matter.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Kind regards
