Will Unused Fiancée Visa and Family Issues (Newfound Child) Affect Future UK Visa

Post by cvikomicic » Sun Oct 06, 2024 12:15 am

I’m looking for some advice regarding a future visa application. Earlier this year, I successfully applied for a fiancée visa to move to the UK and marry my partner. However, shortly after the visa was granted, my UK-based partner discovered that he has a child from a previous relationship—a situation he wasn’t aware of until now. Naturally, this unexpected news shifted our priorities.

We mutually decided to delay my move to the UK and postpone our wedding in order to focus on the well-being of his newly discovered child, giving him time to adjust and settle into this new role as a father. In light of this, I’ve also delayed my university studies in my home country for a year.
Given that I never traveled to the UK or used the fiancée visa, I’m now concerned about how this might affect future visa applications, either for a spouse or another fiancée visa when we are ready to proceed. Should we expect complications or additional scrutiny when we apply again? How should we explain the situation in the most transparent and professional way to ensure our next application is viewed favorably?

On the face of it you didn’t use the visa and lost the fee. That’s all. Can’t see there’s an issue.
