Spouse visa extension - P60 / Limited Company Director

Post by xtaytay » Mon Mar 10, 2025 2:49 pm

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked numerous times, but I couldn't find an answer from the posts I read before posting this.

I am in the process of gathering documents for my partner's visa extension application. One document on the list is: "A P60 for the relevant period(s) of employment relied upon"

We intend to apply towards the end of April 2025, as his visa expires May 5, 2025, so we don't want to cut it too fine.

I presume that the P60 they want is for the current tax year (ending Apr 2025)? Given that the financial requirement (from my employment) is asking for most recent payslips from the last 6 months, etc.

My employer says that they cannot give me a P60 until the end of April 2025, once the tax year has ended. I presume we will need to wait until this is issued by my employer before we can apply? I've seen some other posts saying that HMRC can give another document called an 'employment history' which may be of use?

Also, there is a question: Are you a director or non-executive director of a limited company based in the UK? I presume I only need to answer 'yes' to this question if I am relying on this income to meet the financial requirements, yes? I barely make any money through that company, it's just for occasional freelance work, and it would complicate my application a lot to have to include that info for no reason.

If it isn't available yet as the government also knows, then it isn't simply available. You give out the 2024 which is still the latest.

Also, there is a question: Are you a director or non-executive director of a limited company based in the UK? I believe you still need to say yes, as you are. You can explain in a cover letter that you don't really use it. But the fact remains that you're a director of a ltd.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
