Obtaining a passport for my son

Post by babyjo » Sat Apr 18, 2009 8:47 pm

Hello,

I need advice in obtaining a Polish passport for my son as his father is not legal in Uk and has not got any ID for the passport application. My son was born in Uk and both our names are on his birth certificate.

I am Polish and I are planning on taking my 18 months old son to visit Poland and my family this summer. The Polish embassy needs a Power of Attorney from him and will need to see his ID.

Anyway, what I am wanting to know is if there is any way to obtain a passport for my son without written consent from his father. I am on very low wage and can't afford to seek solicitor's advice.

Please help!

A Polish passport? No-one on a forum like this is likely to know the answer.

How long have you been living in the United Kingdom? And if you were granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (through domestic immigration rules, please say so).

The answer will determine whether your son is a British citizen already, or eligible for registration.

Hi thanks for responding. I have been living in Uk now for just over 4 years, and have no Indefinite Leave to Remain. I am seeking more advice with getting Power of Attorney or court order without my partner's consent. Can this process be done through the court without paying a solicitor, and what are the processes involved?
