A cool one million quid will do if you have that.

You know what women are like when it comes to spending money.......sorry you probally wont know as you have not being married long enough.. but take it from me (30yrs married), no amount of money in a wifes account is enough :D  :)

What is this for any?, what do you mean your wifes visa will be ending soon?. What visa has she got?.

You need to answer this before we can tell you anything further.

Money in a bank account is not a requirement for ILR.Its only reuired when you are applying for visa first time.

Whatever amount you have should suffice. You need to show a regular incoming and outgoing expenses that you can live off comfatably.

I hope its a joint account and not just in her name, as joint accounts at this stage would be helpful to the application.

Just joking about my last comment

Thank you all. The problem now is that we haven't got a joint account as my wife has been in the country since 2004 and as such she already had about three accounts. It just didn't occur to us to open one. Her visa expires 15 January 2010. Is it too late for us to open a joint account? Thank you.

No you have plenty of time to open a joint account and start saving money in it. Just add your name to your wifes account. should be done straightaway

JA looks better than individual accounts in cases such as this
