first travel with my pr,(non eu divorcee)educating border st

Post by bebe2 » Fri Oct 09, 2009 12:01 pm

i went to africa with my pr in my passport, on my way there , i had no problems. while coming back , immigration officials from africa and france complained they have never seen that type of documents before now.

when i got to manchester airport, the border agency staff asked me were my husband was told her we were divorced and he might be in london.
she kept asking how then did the ho grant me pr if i divorced my hubby. twice i had to explain the eu regulation to her. still she had to go con firm with ho before i was allowed .
she did apologise for the time wastage.

it wud have been handy to have photocopies of the eu reg.

Good on you. Sometimes the lack of knowledge of UKBA staff can be quite shocking. It is abysmally low indeed.

Hopefully your experience will have gone a little way in educating the concerned IOs about PR under the Directive, and allow for a smoother passage for the next PR holder!
(Not holding my breath, though!)
