UK Visiting Visa Cooling off period

Hi Experts,

My in-laws got Visiting visa for 6 months and spend 5 months in UK and went back. Again we are planning to
apply for Visiting Visa second time for another 6 months. I would like to know is there any cooling off period
for applying visiting visa again? Is there any rule on maximum time of the stay per year on visiting visa.

There's no colling off period by law but discretion, she spent 5 months and went back and immediately? Want to apply?
They might assume she's just trying to live here except if there's a strong reason she spent up to that.
