Wife on spouse visa - but want to go abroad on holiday

Post by locc0 » Fri Nov 14, 2008 8:42 pm

My wife is currently in the UK under the spousal visa which was granted for a limited time of two years. She has been here for about 9 months. We want to go abroad on holiday for 2.5 to 3 weeks and wanted to know:
1) Is there a requirement or limit on the number of days she can be outside the country while on a spouse visa
2) Is there a requirement for my wife to apply for advance permission to re-enter?
3) Does any limit for days outside the UK cover for the year or the term of her visa (ie; two years)?
4) Will her absence outside the UK cause complications when she applies for indefinite leave to remain?

I have been through the threads and couldnt find anything that could answet my query - please can you help?

thanks in advance

locc0, you are imagining a problem that is not there. See her visa ... it should say MULT .... multi-entry ... so she can leave the UK and later re-enter. She already has permission to re-enter .... her visa!

2 or 3 weeks outside the UK will cause no problem at all about her getting her ILR in due course.

You do not say what country she is from. Don't overlook, if applicable, her getting a visa for wherever you intend to travel to.

many thanks John.

my wife is an Indian national and were thinking of a break in india.

i saw the MULT in her visa i just wasnt sure whether they had a time limit. For instance when she was first granted visa she had to present herself in the UK within 28 days. I just thought to check whether there is a condition or or not.
