Work experience points?

Post by hrd444 » Thu Nov 23, 2006 3:58 pm

Hello,

I am trying to find out if I can apply for the Subclass 136.My Occupation - Materials Engineering is listed for 60 points.I am still under 30 and have a good score on IELTS, which makes it 110 points. But I have problem figuring out the Skill assessment and getting those crucial 10 points.

For 60 point occupations, the applicant has to meet the recent work experience criteria for 12 months in the 18 before making the visa application, & to claim work experience points for 36 in the 48 before making the application.

I do meet the 12 month criteria, but am unsure about the 36 months. Since my work ex looks something like this:

Sep 2001-Aug 2003 - Teaching Assistant,NY (20 hr/week)
Sep 2003-July 2004- Adjunct Faculty, NY (40 hr/week)
Sep 2004-May 2005 - Teaching Assistant,MA (18 hr/week)
May 2005-Feb 2006 - Technical Manager
Mar 2006 - Present -Intellectual Property Analyst

Being a TA/AF there are gaps per the academic calendar so it is not a consecutive experience. SO also TA/AF does not appear on the SOL lthough I'd consider it a closely related occupation.

I would be much obliged if anyone can advise if this workex will hold
good for a Skill assessment? Has Teaching assistance ever been considered valid work ex?

Any thoughts are appreciated.Thankyou for your time in advance.
