Time limit to take up residency

Hi all. My first post, so hope someone can help.

My husband and I are looking into applying for an Oz visa (section 175 - skilled worker). We both qualify with scores of 140 each, under the new points system for 2010.

One question: we are unsure when we want to move. Is there a time limit after your visa has been granted (assuming, of course, if will be) that we must become resident in Australia?

In other words, if we applied today, visa is granted in 2011, must we move to Australia in 2011, or could we wait, say, until 2013?

DIAC will advise you of the date you are required to enter Australia (your initial entry date) at the time of visa grant. Your initial entry date is usually the same as the expiry date for the validity of either your health or character checks, whichever is the earlier.

After making initial entry you can come back as the PR visa is for 5 years, so yes, you can move permanently in 2013
