Advice needed

Post by P Charlton » Thu Mar 27, 2014 7:20 pm

Hi sorry I am new here and hope this is the right place. My name is Paul and live in the UK. I have meet a girl on line from Ethiopia. We have been together for six month she is 100% genuine and we have fallen in love cut a long story short I asked her to marry me. I am looking for some advice regarding us getting married. I know about the savings needed and earnings but as I can gather this is no issue to me because I am on the higher rate of DLA meaning I am exempt. I am worried we have not meet yet that's needed if so its impossible for me to go to Ethiopia due to my health so I need to know what's needed for her to visit me in the UK? I want her to come for a couple of week for a holiday and stay at my house for a couple of week if possible and what do we need to do or is there a chance we can marry without having to come and visit first? I am a little lost lol and sorry about my grammar I have dyslexia.

She can apply for a visit visa , you need to send her a sponsor letter that she is visiting you and you will take care of her living expenses including stay food and travel . You should attach your payslips , if you own a home the details if you have space available for her , how many rooms . Or if you are a tenant than your tenancy agreement with details of your home . I think that's the only way . Getting married without you both being together is not possible . YOu have to send her these documents so she can attach it with her visa application . Do not mention you intend to marry her things will get complicated .

Well you can't marry on a visit visa, she'd have to go back and apply formally for fiancee visa. Switching is not allowed from visit visa. Of course you will have met by then but to be honest, you need a dose of reality here, one prospective meeting isn't love. You have a penpal, not a lover. Sorry.

But this is an immigration forum not a relationship forum but do bear in mind the UKVI will be thinking the same as me and in addition, the costs involved are substantial, the visas alone hovering around the £800 to £1k mark and you'll need three plus another £1k for citizenship in the future. Be aware, and that's not counting flights, etc...
