UK tourist visa for spouse of British National living abroad

Post by rajivmirani » Fri Jun 06, 2014 10:02 am

I have looked on a lot of forums and can't seem to get an answer for my problem.

I am married to a British national and the both of us are currently living in Morocco due to work commitments. We had our civil ceremony in London and straight after moved to Morocco. I wanted to know if there was any possibility of me getting residence in the UK without actually living there. I have no plans of moving there, but the residence would make it easier for me to travel to the UK for holidays and seeing family without the hassle of always paying and getting a tourist visa. Is there anything as a spousal visa that would give me a lifetime visa to the UK?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

You can't have UK residency without being resident. A 'lifetime' (i.e Permanent) visa would take 5 years of continual residency as a spouse.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

There is the 10 year visit visa though, you need a track record of visiting the UK and returning and not using visit visas to effectively live in UK (always a consideration with a marriage to a BC), but might be worth a look. Think it costs about £500 though.

Didn't like the answer in their other thread so posts again hoping for the answer they want!
