living in different cities

Post by Stanleychan » Fri Jun 06, 2014 12:09 am

Hello,

Me and my fiance are planning to get married. She is British so she will be sponsoring me.

1. I am working in London and she is living in Manchester. I visit her every weekend. Can I still apply for the 5 years route? Will it be a problem when applying for the spouse visa?

2. I am planning to quit my current job after I get the visa so that I can look for a job in Manchester. I earn 21k for this job and it will be the only source to meet the financial requirements as my fiance is not working. Will it be a problem?

Many Thanks
Stanley

I don't think your finances will count, the sponsor has to fulfil those....

Where the applicant is in the UK (legally entitled to work) either their and/or their sponsor's earnings can be taken into consideration.

Thank you. Once I get the visa can I immediately quit my job and move to Manchester? Also, will it be a problem if we are currently not living in the same address.

The relationship should be genuine and subsisting. Employment is not required when you have the leave, until such times (6 months before) you apply for an extension.
