Age of Company for Work Permit

Post by arnomarga » Tue Aug 07, 2007 1:31 pm

How old the company should be to apply for work permit? I mean is there any restriction of years in order to apply for work permit?

I think there is no restiction how long the company is in operation. But if the company has applied the work permit many times the process will normally much easier.

One of the main requirements is the company's papers need to be in order.

If the company has only recently been established in the UK and can't provide all the evidence because of this, it says the company may only get a work permit lasting 18 months initially.

see the Business and Commercial guidance notes where it states in paragraph 6:
6. Border and Immigration Agency reserves the right to contact other authorities in order to verify the evidence received or to obtain any other information we consider necessary in order to consider your application, and, to limit the period of the work permit to 18 months or refuse your work permit application where insufficient evidence is provided.
Also see this guidance for caseworkers on the BIA website
Caseworkers should note, however, that unless the employer is long established in the UK and is in an industrial sector deemed as being low-risk, any approvals should be limited 18 months.
It does not say that a company has be established for a particular length of time before they can apply for a work permit.

It can be a start up, but a lot of doucmentation is needed to prove that it is a bona fid company, and has not just been established for the purpose of work permit sponsorship.

They are into trade since last 2 years, recently they have registered this as a private limited company. Before and after the name of the company is same.

I know that it is very easy to set a company in the UK. You could have a company where you are a director and an employee yourselves.
