Can some one please help me in this query about
Surrender certificate form?
Surrender certificate
Form asks spouse name(as per indian passport)
Now i don't have spouse's name entered in my passport
So this field is blank in my passport. Should i leave it blank in surrender certificate? I am worried that might be considered as incomplete form. Or should i just put spouse name anyway in surrender certificate? Does this matter that much?
I can provide copy of marriage certificate.
I am applying by post.
Ant help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it matters if ur spouse name appears on your passport or not also they ask for parents names and you have to provide the same.

I think it doesn't really matter as I didn't include but I still got SC. But if spouse name appears on your passport, you must include it.

[quote="veenas127"]Applied for Surrender Certificate: 25/07/2014 - in person at VFS London
VFS sent application to HCI: 25/07/2014
Message received that HCI is processing the application on: 27/07/14
29th was EID holiday and Embassy and VFS were closed.
Surrender certificate collected from VFS: 04/08/2014.
It took more time for me as I had to pay penalty for holding dual nationality ( though I got passport only in End of July 14). I was hoping for exemption as I got passport recently, but I was not exempted and fined £145.00.
Strangely VFS has not provided regular updates though I paid for extra SMS service. I was tracking application online by which I got to know that I was fined, else I wouldn't have known at all. So don't rely on VFS to send updates. They won't do. Either track online or call the VFS customer service number.

Hi
I'm a bit confused whether between surrender certificate and renunciation, any help would be appreciated.
I'm due to receive my British passport in few days, i do have my current indian passport, would i be needing a SC to get indian visa or the renunciation certificate?!!

Hi,
I’ve made an online application for OCI for which I’d two queries. It'll be helpful if I can get response from forum members:
1. In the ‘Passport’ details section of ‘Part A’ of online form, do I need to give my Indian Passport details or my UK passport details
2. I don’t have the surrender certificate for my Indian passport. Can I get my surrender certificate and OCI done from HCI London?

Passport has to be surrendered first in one of the VFS office or by post. Google indian passport surrender and you will get it. It can not be done in HCI.
for oci, passport number is your british passport number. Once you surrender your indian passport it is gone for life, that number is no longer used anywhere. Always british passport number.

If you are sending by post then postal order is the only option you have. However, if you apply it personally you can select either postal order or by card.

Just applied for my SC with vfs. Was fairly a straight forward process and they mentioned with the receipt of this i could straight away apply for visa. That was great.

Surrendered 3 passports (Mine, wife and kid) in VFS Birmingham on 14-08-2014. I went early in the morning at 8:15 and parked my car in Broadway Plaza and walked for 10 minutes to VFS. There are parking spaces on the Vicarage road outside VFS for 5 to 6 cars. Parking is free for 2 hours. There were two empty spaces when I reached VFS so if you are going early you might be lucky to find one.
I got a token and was seen in 5 minutes. I gave the photo-copies of all the documents and the guy at the counter asked for photo-copies of empty pages in the passport which I had not taken. Fortunately they have a printer onsite and I took phot-copies of empty pages for 3 passports. The printer charges 10p per page. I did not sign the empty pages as I was in a rush.
They charged 118.80 per applicant including SMS alerts. Will update after I receive the certificate.

This is such a long time for processing the Surrender Cert. You need to get in touch with VFS. Did you submit this in person at a VFS office?

I submitted passports in Birmingham VFS on 14th August 2014 and have not received my Surrender certificates yet. Has anyone submitted their passports in Birmingham VFS after 14th August 2014 and received their Surrender Certificates? Appreciate your reply. Thanks.
