Son of EU citizen – How to get in the U.K,?

Hello I'm writing to ask you guys what would be the best pathway for me to follow in order to go to work in the U.K. (Scotland if it makes any difference)

I am 23 years old, ukrainian citizen and holder of an Italian Long Term Residence Permit.
My mother has Italian citizenship and she is thinking about going to u.k to work since italians can do it hassle free. Also in the hope that, if she moves there, this can help me move there too in some way.

What would be the best way to arrange my migration if my mother gets a job and moves to the u.k.? I also have to say that i'm not aiming to permanent residence, i'd just like to get a temporary work permit.

As I said she is not in U.K. yet. She is about to move as soon as she finds a job in Scotland. And here in Italy, as far as I know I am not "legally" financially dependant on her.

Well - you can easily tell whether you are or not.

Do you:
a) Have your own job or own sources of income?
b) Your own house? either rented or owned?
etc.

It's easy to work out - if the answer is no - then her EU citizenship doesn't confer a right on you to relocate with her. If the answer is yes - then it's potentially possible for you to come on an EU family permit - however, if you ceased to be dependant on her - that might remove your rights to be in the UK.

That means you'll have to fall under the same UK immigration rules as others - which means your options are:
a) Work permit visa - most likely a 'tier 2' visa which would require a company willing to sponsor you
or b) a student visa - which requires a good amount of money and a confirmed place on a course in the UK - but would allow you to work part time around your studies.

There are a bunch of other options - such as tier 1 visas - but from your short outline it doesn't sound as if they'll be practical.

Alternatively - pursue citizenship in Italy and become a full EU citizen.

But do I have to be dependant on her while we are here in Italy or while she will be in the u.k? Sorry I don't get it.

Btw we are living in the same house, and I don't own a house. I'm also unemployed and she is too.

So if I'll be in the u.k. with her on a EU family permit, can I work?
If I start working do I cease to be financially dependent on her and lose the family permit?


P.S. Getting italian citizenship is an apocalyptic task. 10 years of uninterrupted residency and than more or less 5 years of wait time for the ministry to make a decision.

You may be able to qualify under regulation 8 as member of your mother's household if you are unable to show you are dependent.

When will you be eligible for Italian citizenship? It may be better if your mother not move until you have Italian citizenship.

Can anyone please answer to the questions in my last post here?

Italian citizenship is too far for me. Bureaucracy in Italy is medieval and there is nothing we can do about it. I'm only focusing on migrating using my mother's citizenship.
