what documents for English Language requirement?

Post by zeusmagnanimous » Tue Sep 02, 2014 9:39 am

I am applying as spouse of a British Citizen. I have an appointment tomorrow, I am getting confused about the documents needed to prove english language.

I have an MSc degree from outside of UK. I have a "medium of instruction" letter from the university too. The point based calculator give me 30 points for masters and 0 points for english. I applied for NARIC SOC and ELA. I got the NARIC SOC certificate saying that my degree is comparable to UK masters but ELA was refused. The refusal letter for ELA does say in the additional information that
Although it is confirmed that English is the medium of instruction in the teaching and examination system of the department providing this award, it unfortunately has not been possible to confirm that the necessary English language requirements for CEFR Level C1 are met upon completion.
So now I have the following documents - can I use any combination of these for english language requirement?

1. Msc Degree from outside UK
2. Medium of instruction letter from university.
3. NARIC Statement of comparibility
4. Refused ELA letter but additional info says english is the medium of instruction.

Please tell me urgently if these will work or not.

In your case Acc to Guide AN these things are mandatory

1)Life in UK

2) Orginal degree cerificate
SOC &
Letter from uni stating that your degree is taught in English..

I wouldnt worry about ELA... and not speak about it unless the ask me..

check 13th page

Thanks for the reply. Is there a difference between "medium of instruction letter" and "letter for degree taught in english"?
