US & Filipino move to Netherlands/Holland - How & wh

Post by rbrooks » Sun Aug 19, 2007 6:59 am

I'm am a US citizen. She is a Filipina and my girlfriend. Assuming I can find a well paying job and employer to help with some visa issues I am wondering how to get my girlfriend over with me. My visa should be easy. Whether my visa comes directly from the company application or from the Netherlands version of the HSMP I dont know yet. Also I dont know if I can/should apply for the cheaper 35% tax basis. But all that really depends on what is the best way to get her over. I can also marry her since that is the medium term idea anyway. Does it make it easier on the visa? I know that in the UK it's easy-ish to apply for a spouse/partner visa under the HSMP. How is it in Holland? She will not be working or wanting to work and my salary will be more than enough for us. Neither do we need to to immigrate in the long term. Basically the goal is for me to work in Amsterdam and have her with me. I'm hope to differerent ways and paths... Any advise is appreciated.

It sounds like you have one of those jobs that the employer would have the resources to sort these things out for you.
You can go to ind.nl to learn about family formation visa and expatax.nl for info for the 30% ruling.
In any case, the company really should be helping you out on this, especially the 30% ruling since they have to include in the contract for you to get it. You don't want to get here and then try to sort it because they tend to be more attentive before you get there.

The thing you and your partner should do is to have the applications filed at the same time.

If you cannot prove a longstanding relationship, consider marrying before applying and coming.
This will make things much easier.
