Eligible for a Dutch passport?

Post by chloe2159 » Tue Oct 14, 2014 12:47 am

Hi Everyone,

I've been told many different things on this matter and hoping to get them all cleared up.

My paternal Grandfather was born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia with his family. His family has since returned but he stayed. He had 2 children, my father and my Uncle, both born in Australia to an Australian mother.
What I am hoping to find out is if both my father and uncle acquire a Dutch passport, I am eligible for a Dutch passport also?

I have been told it is only 2 generations deep that it can go, therefore my children wont be able to, but I can. Can someone please tell me if this is correct or point me in the direction of the best place to find out.

Thank you so much in advance.

Best to check with the Dutch Immigration & Naturalisation Department (IND):

The answer most likely is "no, you can't" but if you want to be 100% sure check with them. Sorry.
