Extending spouse visa

Post by Davk » Sun Oct 12, 2014 9:29 pm

Hi hope someone can advise me please.

I was married in India and was issued a Spouse/CP visa valid from 30.08.12 to 30.11.14. I arrived in UK on 16.09.2012 and have been living with my husband continuously. My husband is a British Citizen as he was born here. My visa application in India was made before 09.07.12 although it was received on 30.08.14.

I have passed the English speaking and listening test but still trying to pass the life in UK test.

I believe I need to complete form FLR(M) to extend my visa - My questions are:

1. As my application was filed before the 09.07.12 (when financial requirement rules came in) does it mean I do not need to complete section 7A about Financial Requirements on form FLR(m) ?

2. If I pass the Life in UK test which I am taking next week then can I apply for Indefinate Leave to Remain (ILR) instead of applying for an extension as my application was made pre 09.07.12 or do I have to wait 5 years because my visa was issued after 09.07.12 ?

3. How much before my expiry date (30.11.14) should I make application and is it worth applying at the Premium Service Centres because an immediate answer is received instead of a long wait.

Sorry for the long questions but any help will be most appreciated.

Thank you.

1. Yes
2. Apply for ILR if you pass the Life in the UK test. B1 level English is also required.
3. You can apply 28 days before the 2nd anniversary of your entry into the UK

Appointment slots at the Premium Service Centres are released 42 days in advance.

If your wife finds it easier, she can choose to listen to the questions through headphones while reading from the screen.

Hi Casa and all on forum.

Unfortunately did not pass the Life in UK test on Friday (17.10.14) thus need to apply for Extension of Spouse Visa as not able to apply for ILR.

Can you please help me by advising:-

1. That form FLR(M) is the correct form
2. That the latest version is 04/2014
3. As the form is 52 pages long after printing and completing how should one present it. Should the pages be stapled (difficult due to size), hole punch and tag or another method. Don't want it rejected as presented in a way they find unacceptable.

Probably seem very basic questions but do not want to overlook and make a simple mistake.

Thank you.
