Applying for a UKwrkn visa outside your country of residence

Post by Barbs1nz » Thu Aug 30, 2007 11:26 am

My fiancee and i are currently on a working visa for the republic of ireland which is due to expire the start of next year. We are both new zealand citizens travelling on nz passports. We want to get a UK visa and our understanding was we could apply for one over here as long as we werent in the UK at the time of application. Now we are getting told we have to return to New Zealand to apply for one. Is there anyway that we can obtain a Uk working holiday visa without having to return to new zealand just to apply for one? Any help would be much appreciated!!

If you are currently legally resident in Ireland then you should be able to get the working holidaymaker from the Embassy in Dublin. Have you actually spoken to them to find out?

Yeah they said depending on your status in Ireland, which i explained a 1year working holiday visa and they came back with
"Unfortunately that is not a long stay category, so you cannot apply for a long term UK visa, such as Ancestry, Working Holidaymaker or Work Permit, to name a few"
Just trying to find a way around this without having to pay thousands and fly across the otherside of the world to obtain one.

Unfortunately, it sounds as though you are stuck, I'm afraid. If they won't do it, then they won't do it.
