holiday to Belgium

Post by odat » Fri Apr 03, 2015 12:34 pm

my wife and I we planning to go holiday to Belgium for one week and visiting my brother
my brother he is Belgium citizen
my wife she is British citizen and I have discretionary leave to remain 3 years in the uk

do I need visa before traveling or I can get the visa on the border?

I read on the internet
Arriving at the border without an entry visa

It is always best for your non-EU family members to be well informed in advance and have all the necessary documents before starting their journey.

However, if they arrive at the border without an entry visa, the border authorities should give them the opportunity to prove by other means that they are your family members. If they manage to prove it, they should be issued with an entry visa on the spot.

If your family members are having difficulties getting a visa, you can contact our assistance services.

What is your nationality?

How will you prove to the airline that you meet the requirements for your destination?

I would strongly suggest you apply for a visa before you travel to avoid the risk of being denied travel. Your passport will be checked before you leave the UK and you will need to travel through France as well where your visa status for the schengen area will be checked. A schengen visa for spouse of British ctizen should be issued free of charge.
