Premium Appt Booking July - help!

Post by kaytee86 » Thu Apr 30, 2015 9:20 pm

Hi All,

Looking to apply under the FLR(M) category and do this via a premium service centre. As my current visa expires July 22 I am (obviously) a little stressed about getting it all done in time. There's a limited time frame as the appointment has to of course take place before this date, but also after we get married in Vegas June 12 (could be ~10 days for us to get a copy of our certified marriage certificate we'll need for the application).

I've read somewhere that appointments aren't released until 42 days in advance? I did just check now out of curiosity to see how the system worked and as everything I've read about appointment release seems to be anecdotal rather than clearly indicated by an official source. It came up indicating no appointments were available for the week I searched (July 4 - 11...as I don't want to leave it until the day of my visa expiry, but will if I have to!). There's no indication that it's due to them not being released yet. I'm slightly panicking as there's also something that says your searches for appointments are limited (only 5 times)?? It's beyond me as to why this is the case.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of an official source that says anything about the release of appointments? Or have any advice for securing an appointment on a tight time frame? I'd hate to have to go through an immigration advisor or solicitor as our application is quite straightforward otherwise.... but if that's what I have to do to secure an appointment then I'll just have to shell out *surpise surprise* MORE money!! Falling in love with a foreigner is so expensive :( Although waking up to that English accent every morning is worth it! Haha.

I can't seem to find a reference to a guidance now, but it definitely is, and always has been, appointments released up to 42 days in advance. The reason they probably don't release any longer is to give everyone a fair chance at getting an appointment when needed.

The system would not show anything now for the date range you are looking at. For an appointment between 4th and 11th July, you would need to start looking around the 3rd week of May (roughly). An immigration advisor or solicitor would also not be able to book any sooner than you would, so I feel it would be a waste of money on top of the visa fee, booking fee and the NHS surcharge of £500 payable upfront too.

I doubt you will struggle to get a slot for when you need as since they introduced the booking fee, it has definitely become much better compared to previously where there was no booking fee and people were booking up appointments with mulitple user id's and then selling the appointment slots on to people who couldn't get one.

Thanks for the reply!

Understand the reasons for them not releasing them, just wish they made it clear rather than this doomsday message that shows up when you search for appointments not yet available, haha. A simple note saying they aren't yet released would not go amiss! Rather than essentially 'don't call us, there's no other appointments'.

Will just have to practice patience and wait until May, thanks for the assurance that slots will probably be available. I was only concerned about the solicitor side of things if this weren't the case as I understand they have access to other appointments. Do you happen to know why you're only allowed a limited number of searches? Seems unnecessary.
In any event, thanks again!

Not since the booking fee system came into place with the £400 fee. Each applicant, regardless of through who it is applied, gets the same chance at an appointment.

I have no idea, but doubt this is what the message means. It might be per session you are logged in though.

Are you sure you're not confusing the '5 searches' with option of 5 Premium Services Centres in England?

Cardiff and Glasgow are the other two albeit not in England - sorry Casa - although OP doesn't state where she is resident in the UK.

Guys

The 5 searches is intentionally done and the way the system works.

You get 5 searches for every 15 minute period. Once you have made 5 searches you must wait 15 minutes until you can search again.

That makes sense. So you're not limited in 5 searches in total...only during one log-in.

Thanks all! Yes, the more I thought about it I knew I must be silly about the 5 searches thing and that it must have to do per log in!
