Hi All,
I have some queries kindly help me .
I am a Tier -2 general visa holder and have switched my visa from Post study work permit.
The Tier-2 Visa started in February 2013 and it is valid till 1St February 2016.
My company has agreed for the extension and sponsorship.
I am planning to apply for the extension 70 days before the expiry but I have below queries :-
1. Can I apply 70 days before the Visa Expiry ?
2. If I apply lets say 70 days before , will I be loosing the 70 days of my current visa ? or the start date will be after 70 days for extended visa.?
3. How long the extended Visa will be Valid ? Can I get COS for 3 years after extension or only 2 years ?
4. I need 2 years for ILR .. when would I be eligible to apply for ILR ? Is it after complete 5 years with work visa / or before actual time (may be 70 days before)
Thank you in advance ..
Looking very much forward for you help.

Manci replied it in an earlier post:

I'm writing this to check what is the earliest that I make an Tier2 General Extension application. I'm looking to apply at least 3 months before my current leave expires. My current leave is due to expire on 22 Jan 2016, and planning to apply my extension on 01 Nov 2015.
By reading some of the older posts I can see that the application can be made before my current leave to remain expires. However, the posts being very old I'm not sure if that rule is still applicable, especially after the introduction of new immigration policy of paying NHS surcharge.
Also it would be great to know if any of you have been successful recently by making an earlier Tier2 General Extension application?
Any help is much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Mosi
if you have a CoS you can apply for an extension any time while you have valid leave but within 3 months of the CoS assignment date. You'll have to pay the IHS for the whole period you are applying for but if there is an overlap UKVI will refund the difference (or so they say)
