Studentship effect benefit

Post by neda » Sat Oct 03, 2015 11:01 am

Hi everyone
I need your help please.
I am full time PhD student with 5 months old baby. I need to put my baby in nursery to look after but I cannot afford the fee of nursery.
I recently applied for 1 year studentship and I got it.
In other hand, my husband is unemployment and we are receiving JSA benefit and housing. They won't give me any benefit as I am full time student but as he is unemployment and I am his wife, we entitled to joint claim. My husband says that he cannot look after our baby as he is looking for job.
I am wondering to know as soon as I start to get pay for studentship what is going to happen for the JSA and housing benefit that we are getting.
The thing is most of the studentship payment need to use to cover nursery fee and not much will left to cove fees at home.
It would be great if someone could please let me know is studentship consider as job and how it will effect out benefit. And whether Job centre and housing will consider that I need to use studentship to cove nursery fee.
Thank you in advance for your help.
