Help regarding section 8.8 in MN1 form

Post by Manchester171 » Sun Oct 11, 2015 8:42 am

I sent MN1 form through NCS and I was refused to send mine same time due to wrong ESOL test. I already passed the new one Trinity and have appointment again with NCS after 2 weeks. The problem is that I sent my child's application and I ticked the box next to

8.8 [For parents applying for British citizenship at the same time as their child] I still
want my child to be registered as a British citizen even if my own application for British
citizenship is refused.

I forgot about it and NCS as well didn't tell me to un tick it as my application was not sent. Do you think this error could make the MN1 application unsuccessful?

By the time the applications are dealt with inside HO they will probably have caught up with each other & may be dealt with more or less together.

It would be good if you had cross-referenced them as a 'family application' but it's not mandatory;
(for example, in my case,, as well as the HO reference number, I put a comment in the 'additional info' section of mother's & daughter's forms).

Ticking that option means if your application is refused for some reason your child's could still proceed and succeed instead of being failed automatically.
That may be preferable anyway.
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.

Thanks Noajthan, I rang up NCS lady in the same day and she said she put note with the application that it was only single form and not with parent beside she said caseworker will desregard it. Just I am doubtful she was only trying to keep her chin up as she hadn't realised that error during her checking. But as your opinion is similar I am relieved .
