OK, I am an American Citizen, going on holiday to the UK to finish up my hubby's citizenship (UKM) and then he will be the British Citizen. Once that is complete, we are going to Ireland for 6 months. From what I understand I don't need a visa for Ireland as we are a schedule 1 country according to their immigration? I am going to get the 90 stamp when I get into the country, but then I have to apply for a residence card that allows me to stay 6 months? Does that sound correct?

Once we get to England in March, hubby will have been right at 6 months in the process for citizenship via UKM. The hold up with it right now is the fact that biometrics are not set up in the US as of yet, so we figured that instead of trying to get to Mexico or Canada to do biometrics we'd just go on a holiday to the UK and finish things up there and streamline the process. We are going to email Home Office a week before we leave and advise them that we are approaching the 6 month mark and that we will be in the UK to finish up and to also change the address to his parents house in Oxfordshire. I'm wondering if there will be any issues with this part of the process or if this should speed things up like we're thinking.....

Suggest you search in forum for other members' timelines vis a vis UKM.
My sense is it could all take some time longer than 6 months.

And btw there's plenty of info to be found on the nitty gritty of SS in Eire too.

It will have already been 6 months once we set foot in England. I know it could still take some time, but its a risk we're willing to take at this point due to the biometric situation here in the US and the possibility of pulling out of the EU in next years vote. Also, if we haven't heard anything after a couple of weeks of being in England from HO, I have no problem begging the local MP for help in the matter

We do plan on fulling live life while in Ireland, i.e., getting our girls in school, after-school activities, church, work, getting into a gym!!, whatever we have to do. I will not be holed up in a house or apartment counting down the days to my application for admittance back into the UK
