Sponsoring spouse in Pakistan from Italy

I have been living in Italy on permesso di soggiorno from past four years. My current permesso di soggiorno is valid till december 2008. I came to Italy as an immigrant. Can I sponsor my spouse who is living in Pakistan to join me in Italy as legal partner. what kind of documents I will need. How long this process will take.

Usman you cannot sponsor your spouse....you would have to apply for family permesso for your husband!

Which means you have to go to the Questura/Sportello Unico which now have handbooks in all languages and will tell you everything you will need!

Basically you have to show that you can support your spouse here in Italy and that you have somewhere to live but I have to tell you it is quite along process. So be prepared to battle!
