Converting BIVS(c-visit) to Tier 2 dependant

Post by ninja_turtle » Mon Apr 25, 2016 11:12 pm

Hi people,

The forum has been a massive help for a lot of people. 3 cheers to all the friends spending time to help each other here.

I am on a tier-2 general visa , expiring October'18. The question I have is for my wife.
I got engaged(not married) in India in January'16. She has come to UK for work on BIVS(C-Visit) which was sponsored by her organisation, we took this opportunity to marry in UK. We got married 19th May'19.
Her 90 days period(maximum duration for BIVS visa) is coming to an end on 06th May'2016. She will fly back to India. I am planning a tier-2 general dependent visa for her. Is it a possibility for her to get a dependent visa while she is in UK or does she need to return to India and apply from there ??

Any help in the direction will be highly appreciable.

Regards

Are you sure your dates are correct?

How did you get married, was it as the Registry office etc? What type of ceremony was it?

She cannot switch to any other visa category while in the UK as a visitor. She has to apply for entry clearance from her home country.

Cheers for pointing it out CR001...

"We got married 19th April'16."

Her BIVS visa will not expire until July'16. Will it be a problem if we apply for a dependent visa before the expiry of her visa ?

She can apply for a dependent visa at any point, but it must be from her home country.
