Post by leti » Thu Jun 23, 2016 5:17 pm

I went in 2007 on holidays to london for couple weeks and then go to ireland. when i try go again to london trough gatwick airport the officer in passport control detain me and they refuse my entry because they say i didnt have all what i needed to stay as a tourist. they send me back next day in a flight to spain. on their expense they didnt let me pay the flight. this was in august 2008. i want go again in holidays soon and i remember they mentioned i need to ask entry clearance to go back. this is true? do i need it even after so many years? i have passport from south america. thank you

i will try again:
i make a trip to london in 2008. second time traveling there, but in my arrival to gatwick i was questioned, detained and send back to spain day after (they pay the ticket, i didnt get a option from them to pay for it), i travel from there so they send me back to same place. they make a stamp and crossed. was in august 2008. now im thinking to make a europe trip and im afraid that this happen again to be refused in the airport in london. in that time they say i need to ask from embassy a entry clearance, but 8 years passed.
if i go just like this will i be refused again? or is better to require a entry clearance like they say, im argentina passport holder
thank you

You will be bounced if you try again, especially so since you were removed at the Crown's expense.

Why did they send you back, what reason's were given, as a non-visa national there must have been something pretty suspicious to question you?

If you were refused entry previously you will be required to apply for a visit visa (entry clearance from Argentina) prior to travelling to the UK.

You should make sure that you carry necessary documentation to show the immigration officer when next entering the UK along with your passport with EC to avoid the same happening again. It's unclear why they refused you entry before, but I presume you will know the reasons they gave you.

Didn't you have a round-trip or onward ticket?
