Living in Geneva, applying for Irish citizenship

I have a question and was hoping to get some advice. My husband is considering a job in Geneva. He has just recently got his Irish citizenship through ancestry. That means that neither my kids nor me are eligible unless we have a period of residency. Would the period that we lived in Geneva count towards that, or would we have to be in Ireland?

Time in Switzerland does not count for Irish citizenship purposes.

You'd need to live in Ireland for time to count for citizenship. Or there would be a reasonable medium term pathway to British citizenship if you moved to the United Kingdom.

Swiss citizenship is difficult - minimum 12 years residence, and canton + municipality can make whatever additional rules they like (and lots of them do).

How old are the children and does your husband have an Irish born parent - or grandparent?

Husband got his citizenship through a grandparent and the kids are 4 and 8, so minors.
Oh and right now we live in the US.
