EEA Family permit for extended family

Post by Cerl27 » Sat Dec 08, 2018 9:43 am

Hi all,

When I moved in to the uk I came with a family permit and now I have become British citizen and I have tried to bring my mum to visit for a couple of months but for some reasons the regular tourist visa has been denied.
I have been advised to apply for a different visa and was wondering if I can really apply for my mum’s visa with the eea family permit as an extended family member through my partner who’s still remains European.
Would it be possible for me to apply and the visa application not being affected for my status or perhaps because my partner is also holding a PR.

Any assistance will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Are you an EEA or a non-EEA citizen? Are you married to an EEA citizen or are you a "durable partner"?

The definition of an EFM was recently changed for it to be applicable only to family members of the EEA citizen themselves.

If you are married to the EEA citizen, your mother can apply as a direct family member, if she can prove financial dependency.

Thanks for your reply.

I’m a non EEA on a civil partnership for 7 years already.

Then, I understand I can apply for EEA family permit for my mum as direct family member and show dependency. Would for this be enough monthly bank statements where shows money transferred right?

My main concern was me being now British citizen if that could affect the application but I guess that it shouldn’t.

Thanks,

EEA Family permit visa for my mum

Post by Cerl27 » Sun Dec 23, 2018 10:59 am

Hi all,
I did emailed a couple of weeks ago regarding the EEA family permit that I would like to apply for my mum but some new doubts raised.
Again... I have become a British Citizen but i'm on a civil partner with an EEA member who has the permanent residency status.
I have planned to bring my mum to visit but her regular visitor visa was denied twice for so many reasons that they gave me. Now I have been told that I was applying for the wrong visa and should apply for the EEA family permit instead. below my questions:

1)Do you think EEA family permit should be ok for someone who is coming just to visit for a couple of months ( not staying!) or is this a visa more for people who wants to stay in the UK.

2) Will she able to apply for it every time she wants to visit the uk of course before brexit takes effect.

3)Me as a British Citizen could affect positively/negative in some way on her application even tho I'm civil partner with a EEA member. I know there is another visa application for joining a British Citizen but this are visas for people to stay in the UK and this is not our genuine plans.

4) I do understand as on my previous forum I was told that I will need to show dependancy (money transfer to her) which isn't a problem

Any advise of anyone who perhaps had a similar case will be amazing, I'm just trying to get it right for her to visit and stay for couple of months without any problems.

Thanks,

Cerl27
