Adoption Process

Hello All,

I am an Indian national living in UK on a spouse visa and my wife has a British passport (received recently) although she is of an Indian origin like myself.

The main reason for this post is that we are planning to adopt a baby from INDIA through IAC (UK) and CARA (India). However I was just told that, in order to proceed with the process, I need to be on an ILR and not just on a spouse visa, although wife is a British citizen now.

I was wondering if there is anyone out here who could help me on this. Is it true that I need to be on ILR for the adoption process or can I proceed now as my wife has a British passport.
