Help on MN1 child documentation to send

Post by Will72 » Mon Mar 18, 2019 1:32 pm

Hi All

Apologies if this info is somewhere already here.

Background, UK national married to Thai national who has Thai daughter (not born in UK). Wife has already got British citizenship, but child yet to go through process, (doing it now) but has been living in UK with us for past 4 years.

From the MN1 guide I cannot be sure what docs I need to send.

To confirm identity - Childs passport (fine)

The categories after that dont match our circumstances so only the "Child living in UK" section seems most relevant and according to that we need to send

Child’s full birth certificate
Child’s passport of entry totheUnited Kingdom, and any subsequent passports
Parents’ marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate

So would I be correct in thinking I need to send
CHILD'S PASSPORT
CHILD'S THAI BIRTH CERT
MY MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE TO HER MOTHER

That's it? Would we not need to send mother's passport or evidence of her British citizenship??

Thanks for any help

Does the child hold ILR?

Why did the child not apply at the same time as the mother??

If the child is from a previous marriage, then your marriage cert is not required.

Copy of mothers naturalisation certificate should be sufficient too.
