FLTR question

Post by Ruggles » Fri Jun 20, 2008 11:30 am

Hello,

My mother and father sponsored my fiancee to come to the UK to get married on a settlement fiancee visa this June. We will be married in July. She (a US citizen) is looking to apply for FLTR. We are a bit worried that they seem to have changed the form since we last looked at it. Is it still possible for my parents to sponsor us for the financial section of the FLTR form? I seem to remember there being an option to give details of a parental sponsor before.

I work part time with an average monthly salary of £710 and my fiancee and I are living my parents at the moment, paying no rent (I am saving to start post-grad studies in September). Once she has the FLTR form, my fiancee will be well placed to find work with a computer engineering degree). We are both a bit concerned that there is no longer space to put my parents' income/savings on the FLTR form. Does anyone have any advice? I would sincerely appreciate your help. Thanks for reading.

Third party support is no longer allowed except in the provision of rent free accomodation.

Thanks very much for the reply. That's very miserable news indeed :( It must have been a recent change.

Does anyone have any idea if £710 a month (average year's income, non-contract part-time) with a letter from the employer and rent free accomodation from my parents would be enough?

I should also point out that I have £15,000 in savings, though there doesn't seem to be a place to indicate this on the forum :( :(

If you can show savings (pref £2k+), it will help your case.
