Applying for First British Passport after naturalisation

Post by desperate4ilr » Tue May 14, 2019 10:55 pm

Hi,
My naturalisation application is approved and my citizenship ceremony is tomorrow. I was looking at the documents needed while applying for the passport and it mentions the passport of home country need be sent as supporting document. in my case, my Indian passport is with Indian consulate as it was expiring soon, so had to apply for renewal. However, i still have the first Indian passport (expired)which i used to arrive in this country. can i send that passport instead alongwith the naturalisation certificate to HMPO?

Thanks

As long as the old passport has not been "cancelled", i.e. corners cut or holes punched, then yes ok.

Will they be returned with the British passport?

the old passport which i have is an expired passport with sides cut. They cut the sides when they issued me the new passport

Foreign (and British) passports will be returned to you.

I suppose you'll have to wait for your passports to be returned.
