Use of EEA FM residence card

Post by Lesaimon » Sat May 25, 2019 6:20 pm

Hi all,

My wife (Chinese citizen) and I (EEA citizen) lived in the UK for 3 years, during which she was granted an EEA FM residence card.
We have now moved back to and are living in my home country.

We are planning to spend a weekend in the UK soon to see some friends.

Question: can she still use her residence card to get in the UK?
If not, does she need to apply for a visa or can we provide our marriage certificate to the immigration officer before boarding onto the Eurostar to get in to get a code 1A ink stamp (we did that a few years back when she had not applied for her residence card yet and her family permit had just expired)?

Thanks for your help

Regards

I should mention her residence card is still valid and expires in a couple of years.

She will have no issue in entering UK as she still have valid residence permit.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thanks for your answer seagul.

I was not sure if the use of a residence card was conditioned to living still in the country that issued it (as per the denomination "Residence" card). Are you saying this is not the case then?

I tried to find an answer on the gov.uk website but this case was not covered.
