Can My children qualify for British citizenship

Post by goodinthoughts6891 » Fri May 31, 2019 3:39 pm

I got married to an EEA National on 10 October 2013 and my First five years Resident card was issued on 23 March 2014, endorsed on my passport as a EEA family member.

My first child was given birth to on 14 December 2015 and The second on 14 October 2018. Both in Africa.

I believe I would have acquired PR status on 10 October 2018 but My permanent resident card was issued 28 May 2019.

Does my second child at least qualifies for a British Passport or both kids are qualifies.? If not, is there anything else better than just getting a resident document for them because I want to bring them here from Africa.?

As both children were born abroad and not in the UK, then no, they do not qualify.

They will need Permanent Residence status first and would only be able to apply when either parent is also applying or is British and the other has PR.

They would only qualify if they were born WITHIN the UK. As they were born abroad, they have no entitlement to british citizenship or to register as British. They require PR before they will qualify for citizenship and they need 5 years residence before they can get PR.
