My biometrics were not received by the Home Office, but I enrolled them

Post by Sascha » Tue Jun 11, 2019 2:36 pm

Hi, I applied for a Family Visa via spouse route in end of Feb, 2019, inside the UK and enrolled my biometrics about a week later at Sopra Steria in Croydon. I did not receive a confirmation email that my biometrics were enrolled but of course I did enrol them and was told by two staff members on two separate occasions that the biometrics were sent to the Home Office the same day.

I've now received an email as well a letter from the Home Office saying that my biometrics are not yet enrolled and that if I don't do so by the 20th of this month, my visa will be rejected. I responded to the email about 5 days ago now, but no reply yet. When I call them, all I am told is to wait for a response. I have now drafted a letter to be sent by post to the same address in Sheffield that the letter was sent from.

Has this happened to anyone before? Did anyone have their visa rejected because for whatever reason their biometrics were not received by the Home Office even though you enrolled them?

If the letter is suggesting to enroll biometrics then you should follow it and re-enroll your biometrics.

Bio metrics don’t always work first time BUT the enrolling team should have checked before you left... The system shows up that it has accepted the bio metrics, it can take a bit of time so maybe they said all good when it was not confirmed.

Best / fastest way forward is to do it again.

Thanks, I did make another appointment with Sopra Steria to enroll my biometrics. Is there any way I can get a confirmation from them stating that I DID enroll my biometrics - a letter, a receipt, anything? The last time I enrolled, I did not get a confirmation letter, just a verbal confirmation. I'm a bit wary about this happening again, really wouldn't want Home Office to write to me again saying that my biometrics weren't enrolled.

In past when you had the choice to enrol your biometrics at post office, you used to get receipt from them. Not sure whether steria sopra other than verbal confirmation issue such receipt but I am sure this time your biometrics must have gone through.
