Issues with IHS Surcharge for Child Dependent visa - FM Child

Post by ruthdra » Tue Jun 11, 2019 6:20 pm

Hello All,

I hope experts or people who have experienced this before can guide how to progress further.

Current Situation:
1. Father on ILR. Settled status
2. Currently applying Online application for Spouse/Partner of settlement visa for the mother. Paid the IHS surcharge ( £1200) and the application fee.( £1500 approx.). This is done and straight forward. Application outside UK. Used the Gov.uk website for the application.
3. Filled a separate application for the Child dependent. When I went to pay IHS surcharge it asked for the information " Details of Joining the person in UK". The trouble is when the dad's information are given under visa route it will be settlement and for visa type none of the option seems relevant for someone who acquired the ILR after 5 years on Tier 1. The options it shows are like Civil Partnership, Husband, Wife, Child or Other Dependant of Settled Person, Family reunion..,Parent,Grandparent and other Dependant Relative, Post Flight - Non settled Person, unmarried partner etc.

If I select something like Husband it calculates the IHS charges to £2000 or other options says they are exempt. I have created multiple versions of the application and struck at this. Other posts says there is some issues with system so not sure what should be the correct details to be given. The ILR validity is till 2024. Can anyone please shed some light on this? Is this something wrong with the system or on our part? Any work around? Been on the phone to the Immigration but still not getting any answers to proceed this further. Any tips will be helpful and I am sure I am not alone with this.

Eagerly waiting for the reply,
thanks

There is a glitch in system/website where child gets exempted from IHS but on submission of application later the applicant/sponsor receives the link to pay for child IHS.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

So you are saying we can go ahead with the application even though it says exempt?

Again my question is what category should I be choosing under settlement type visa as none of them is relevant?

For child it should be child option under settlement. And yes let it go even child gets exempted.
